In this paper, we deal with the restoration problem of digital images acquired from faded color films. Fading of color films highly depends on their preservation environment and duration, which implies that restoration of those images is hard to be achieved automatically by a unified way. In this paper, we propose a method for restoring those images based on color information of the known objects in the films, such as sky, grass, and human skin, and a polynomial approximation model specified by those information, whose validity is verified by several pairs of a faded film and the corresponding true image.
