A novel applicator using microwave acoustic technique to measure the water content in a sample is presented. A modulated 2.45 GHz signal fed to the sample produces an acoustic wave at the modulation frequency. The acoustic output voltages increase linearly with increased water content in the range from 14% to 90%.
