Summary: 
In this paper, we propose a millimeter-wave beam-switchable antenna using a dielectric image guide above which a movable periodic metal plate is placed. This antenna can easily change the beam in the endfire and broadside directions by combining the behavior of a surface-wave antenna and a leaky-wave antenna. We also study a structure to suppress sidelobe due to the remaining power of the leaky-wave antenna by loading a sloping metal reflector at the end of the periodic metal plate. The measurement results indicate that there are good beam-switching performances producing the beam in the endfire and broadside direction.
