Summary:
A new configuration is proposed for an optoelectronic network (OEN) using microwave frequency mixing and multiplexing. The m n OEN consists of m optical sources, m-parallel n-stage cascaded optical intensity modulators, and m-photodetectors. The m n OEN matrix is theoretically discussed, and 1 2, 2 2 and 3 3 OENs are analyzed in detail. The 2 2 OEN, which mixes and multiplexes microwaves, is further investigated and the theoretical prediction derived from OEN equations is experimentally confirmed.
