In this paper, trellis coded modulation with bandwidth expansion is examined. The proposed scheme is a modified Symbol-rate-increased TCM -, which allows the bandwidth expansion ratio to be varied to an arbitrary value. The Symbol-rate-increased TCM has been shown to be a particular case of the proposed scheme. Simulation results have clarified that the proposed scheme achieves a significant improvement over an uncoded scheme in an AWGN channel.
