Summary:
Pairing cryptosystems are applied to novel cryptographic protocols. The R-ate pairing and the ηT pairing are fastest pairings. There are many reports of implementing pairings on not only PCs but also embedded devices such as mobile phones, sensor nodes and smartcards have been proposed. However, pairings at the security level equivalent to 128-bit AES are not really implemented in mobile phones without high-level OS such as Windows and Android mobile phones. In this paper, we implement pairings at the security level equivalent to 128-bit AES on Android and Brew mobile phones, and we compare the processing time of pairings with those of modular exponentiation. Also, we implement the ID-based encryption, and the short signature using the R-ate pairing.
