Summary:
Optical two-dimensional vibration measurement method, for analyzing stringed instruments, is proposed. String vibration is measured using motion capture with single high-speed camera. This method enables non-contact method to measure two-dimensional transversal string vibration. Including Lissajous patterns of rotary motion, two-dimensional transversal vibration of the string was observed. Moreover, one dimensional longitudinal vibration and one dimensional transversal vibration were measured by the same method, and it is confirmed that influence of longitudinal vibration on measurement result can be ignored. Through this test, the two-dimensional transversal string vibration was observed adequately.
