Summary: Target tracking is a representative application in wireless sensor networks. To achieve higher resolution of trajectory, a target tracking application will consume much amount of energy, caused by data transmissions, whereas the application should save energy consumption. This motivates that the application should be able to adjust balance between the resolution and resource consumption. In this paper, we propose N-ary sensor model to adjust the balance, in order to enable developer to choose appropriate balance to satisfy requirements for the application. Moreover, we propose heterogeneous configuration algorithm which configure the sensor model for each node, to reduce unnecessary transmissions to achieve the required resolution.
