History and future trend of semiconductor memory has been described. At present both DRAM with high performance for PC and Flash memory with low cost and non-volatile characteristics for multimedia storage are the mainstream of semiconductor memory. In future new type non-volatile semiconductor memory such as FeRAM, MRAM, PRAM, ReRAM with both high performance and low cost will replace DRAM and Flash memory. Especially the stacked structure is key technology for achieving ultra low cost for new type memory.
