Summary:
We have proposed a Phase Shift Pulse Brillouin Optical Time Domain Analysis (PSP-BOTDA) previously. This paper reports a new kind of PSP-BOTDA which uses both +π/2 and -π/2 phase shift pulses as its pump lights. It is shown that the Brillouin spectrum obtained by using this new PSP-BOTDA corresponds to the imaginary part of the Brillouin gain coefficient, and that it has linear frequency characteristics around the Brillouin frequency shift.
