Summary:
Analytical expressions for the tunneling transmission coefficient and the resonance condition are derived in the rectangular double-barrier structures with outer-wells. It is confirmed that the resonance condition depends mainly on the central well. We have calculated the current density for both the symmterical and the asymmetrical structures with pre-well, with outer-wells, or without outer-well. It is found that the value of peak to valley ratio in current density for symmetrical double-barrier structures with outer-wells is better than that with pre-well, and that outer-wells added to the asymmetrical structures improve moreover the value of peak to valley ratio.
