Centralized Radio Access Network (C-RAN) architecture is effective to improve wireless communication quality. However, one issue is the required large transmission capacity. To transmit larger traffic efficiently, analog radio-over-fiber technique is attractive. In this paper, we introduce an example of system architecture with IF-over-Fiber (IFoF) transmission technique to accommodate mobile base stations. In addition to that, we clarify the transmission conditions where IFoF technique can be effective by numerical simulation. Furthermore, we verify the applicability of IFoF technique to commercial systems by transmission experiments using a commercial LTE base station and deployed optical fibers.
