TDOA (Time Difference of Arrival) localization estimates a target position from arrival time differences of radio signals by detecting them in a number of ground receiver stations. TDOA localization does not require a signal transmission time. Based on this advantage, TDOA localization has utilized effectively for mobile user location estimation and an aeronautical surveillance system. In TDOA localization, a clock bias error occurs in a receiver station due to time synchronization and multipath. And this clock bias error brings increase in position error. This paper describes a TDOA localization method estimating a target position and a clock bias error simultaneously, when any receiver station has the clock bias error. And position accuracy using this method is explained. Also, evaluation results by simulation are provided for bias error estimation and position error using this method.
